Police Getting Smarter: New York Cops Got 100 New ForTwos

Mon, 10/03/2016 - 19:56

Just look at these little patrol cars, aren’t they cute? Such police smarts in blue-and-white paint scheme definitely stand out in the streets of the Big Apple. These tiny but mighty vehicles have been delivered by Smart USA under the NYPD order. In this way, the Department intends to replace trikes previously used in New York. Just a wise decision: smarts used to be pretty spacious compared to three-wheel bikes, and featuring air conditioning. When patrolling streets in summer, the latter definitely matters.

The police smarts aren’t build for high-speed street racing, though. Equipped with the 0.9-litre Turbo three cylinder engine, the police ForTwo delivers the same 89 ponies as the standard civilian Smart. However, there is some additional equipment, too, such as police radio, bright-blue flashing lamps on the roof, not to mention a specific livery. The main order makes 250 fortwos totally.
